Sustainability in our Supply Chain
From our farms to your fridge, Cabot cares about how our products get to you. Through a variety of energy conservation programs aimed at reducing fuel use, our team is committed to finding creative ways to address our environmental footprint.
Employee Teams
Cabot employees are passionate about where they work and many participate on teams related to continuous improvement or sustainability. We call teams focused on sustainability Green Teams. Green Teams engage employees by developing projects designed to support sustainability efforts at their work location. Because every work location has unique priorities, the initiatives look a little different. The Montpelier Distribution Center is one of the main warehouses that stores our products before they hit the road to stores all over the U.S. Their Green Team participates in engaging trainings designed to incentivize safe and efficient driving. In addition, the Team activates around initiatives related to energy efficiency, fuel savings, and other resource conservation techniques.

Returning power back to the grid
In 2025 our distribution center participated in an energy conservation pilot program. When there is a surge in energy demand, like a heat wave, our local utility incentivizes us to reduce the power needed as much as possible. This allows the power grid to remain resilient and allocate energy elsewhere (like your air conditioner). Our cheese maintains proper food safety temperature due to the warehouse insulation and cold air circulation patterns, and the power grid does not overload. This program has proven successful from our co-op and B Corp values lens, and we look forward to piloting this program at other locations in the future.
On the Road
