
Salted & Unsalted Butters Win 1st Place - American Cheese Society Competition
July 28, 2025 – Waitsfield, VT – Cabot Creamery received 16 awards at the American Cheese Society Awards Ceremony held in Sacramento, California, last week. Cabot’s Extra Creamy Premium salted and unsalted butters took home first-place medals in the butter category.
Cabot also earned first place for Cabot Pepper Jack, Monterey Jack, Muenster and Crème Fraîche. Vault No. 5, a cheddar made in collaboration with Jasper Hill Farm, received high honors as well.
The awards highlight producers throughout the dairy industry that are committed to high standards of cheesemaking and food safety.
"We are extremely proud of the tradition and dedication that goes into making the best butter in the country and world,” said Erik Russell, Butter Product Manager at Cabot Creamery. “We have a great team, and we hold ourselves to this standard in everything we do. It’s an honor to be recognized for this work.”
The competition is a technical and aesthetic evaluation of American-made cheese and dairy products. Entries are judged blind by food professionals from academia, dairy sciences, culture manufacturers, food retailers, food distributors and members of the media. They work in teams of two and deduct points for flaws from a perfect score of 50.
“These awards are a powerful validation of the hard work and care that goes into every product we make,” said Matt Mason, VP of Business Management at Cabot Creamery. “Each win reflects our commitment to crafting high quality products with a delicious taste. We’re grateful to our peers in the industry for this acknowledgment.”
