American Dream

With a farming history dating back to the 15th century in his native Netherlands, Adrian Ooms immigrated to the United States in 1950 on his own quest for the American Dream. He found it in the fertile Hudson River Valley where he started farming, married Dinie and raised their family. Adrian now works in partnership with three of their sons: Ron, Tim and Eric. The third generation also helps out on their state-of-the-art farm with robotic milking machines. The farm has grown to 2,000 acres. Adrian Ooms moved to the U.S. in 1950 from the Netherlands.

A Ooms Farm

Work Ethic

Eric Ooms spent some time working in Washington, D.C. but he would come home every weekend. “I loved being on the farm too much, working with my family,” he says. After moving home, Eric has stayed involved with policy by becoming active with the New York Farm Bureau. He lives with his wife and children in the original family farmhouse, a decision he has never regretted. “To learn work ethic and responsibility,” he says, “there is no better place than a working dairy farm.”
