Instead of a traditional cheese platter this holiday season, try displaying a variety of Cabot cheeses in a festive shape – a holiday cheddar star! This fun and creative, lactose free star can be made smaller or larger, depending on the size of your gathering, and will liven up any food table. You can make this Holiday Star Cheese Board with one kind of cheddar, or use a different flavor for each triangle, as shown.

Ingredients

5 (8-ounce) bars assorted Cabot cheese flavors such as Cabot Alpine Cheddar, Habanero, Vermont Sharp Cheddar, Pepper Jack, or Garlic Herb, cut into ¾-inch cubes.
Fresh sage and rosemary, or other herbs
A variety of your favorite cheese board ingredients such as flavorful crackers, fresh crusty bread, roasted nuts, mixed olives, grape tomatoes, and fresh or dried fruit, or berries.

Directions

CUT cheese bars into approximate 3/4-inch cubes, about 30 cubes for each flavor.
PLACE on large platter or cheese board (star will be about 13 inches in diameter), five evenly spaced cubes to form outer tips of star. Arrange more cubes in lines to outline five triangles. Fill in center of each triangle with as many cubes as will fit, then top with second layer of cubes.
TUCK sage leaves and rosemary into star at the inside edges of the points. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
FILL center with crackers standing on edge. Alternatively, fill the center with the fruit or tomatoes.
ARRANGE the other cheese board items around the star in decorative groups.
